SAFETY QUIZ RAISES £460 FOR MENINGITIS TRUST
The event at the Wellington Park Hotel in Belfast raised a huge 460. The Safety Group chose to donate the proceeds from the ballot to the Meningitis Trust after a members mother contracted the disease a year ago. The money raised will be used to provide practical and emotional support to families and individuals across Northern Ireland, whose lives have been shattered by meningitis. The afternoon began with a power-point presentation by Station Commander Joyce during which he advised those present of the work of the team and the equipment available to them. CDM Seminar attracts Record Numbers
The seminar was opened by Ken Logan from the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland who explained the key changes to the Regulations and what the role of the HSENI would be to ensure compliance. The second speaker was Jane McCallum from McCallum Safety Health. Jane looked at the situation from a health point of view, specifically in relation to surveillance. She outlined the employers and employees responsibility, touched on audiometric testing programmes, the frequency of assessment and record keeping and further action.
