€100,000 fine following death on construction site
A company has been fined €100,000 for the death of a construction worker during the building of Charlestown Shopping Centre in Finglas, North Dublin.
28-year-old father of two, Edward Fowler was struck by a plank that had blown off scaffolding in high winds.
G&T Crampton of Ballintaggart House, Clonskeagh Road pleaded guilty to failing to close a section of the site on January 18, 2008.
The court heard there were record wind speeds recorded that day.
The company has six previous convictions, two involving fatal accidents, under health and safety legislation.
