enhancing employee safety
Member Company AG Paving & Building Products demonstrate how employee safety feeds into a major purchasing decision in a recent press release.

A G Paving & Building Products has acquired three new 4 tonne forklifts for its Fivemiletown branch. Some of the many market-leading health and safety features include visual warning lights, speed limiters, audible alarm, and a seat interlock, meaning the forklift won’t move unless the high-vis seatbelt is fastened.
AG HSEQ Manager, Cathy Maguire, said she believes the new forklifts were further testament to AG’s dedication to enhancing employee safety and production operations.
“The new forklifts were purchased in line with our #SafeDay campaign which is aimed at raising awareness that AG wants all employees and visitors to leave its premises in the same healthy and safe condition in which they arrived.”
“The vehicles will help to emphasise mobile plant safety, particularly with regards to pedestrian segregation and awareness. The new visual warning lights, PAL (Pedestrian Awareness Lights) project a red-light danger zone on the floor around the entire forklift which will clearly show employees the minimum distance they must maintain to continue working safely.”
The new trucks will also reduce AG’s carbon footprint as they are replacing older, heavier vehicles. They have been fitted with Seat Switch Activated Engines and Lights & Display shutdown systems which detects when an operator disembarks the forklift and in turn starts to shut itself down therefore reducing fuel consumption.
Furthermore, the forklifts have a double-handler attachment which means they can lift several loads at a time which will speed up loading and stock movements, allowing one truck to do multiple tasks instead of having a single truck for specific tasks.
