Electrical Training Trust - Ending Shock Silence Report
In 2024 the Electrical Training Trust, supported by HSENI, undertook a survey in Northern Ireland to determine the frequency, consequences, and reporting practices relating to electric shocks in the workplace.
The survey revealed 80% of respondents have experienced an electric shock at work, with almost 40% reporting that they have experienced at least three electric shock incidents and recent research indicates there are long-term health consequences from repeated electrical exposures - even from those deemed to be ‘minor’.
Following on from our April 2024 Group Meeting, and the presentation at our November 2024 conference by Horizon Engineering Solution Ltd. on Dutyholder Requirements for Electrical Works, the ETT survey is available to read, as we collaborate to deliver a greater level of understanding of the legal requirement for managing electrical works within your business.
