Beware the CE (Chinese Export) Mark
Conformité Européenne (CE) marking is a certification mark that means conformity with the health, safety and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA); i.e. the product has undergone stringent testing and is of the approved EU standard.
China Export (CE) is a very similar logo used by Chinese manufacturers for their products. However, these products will not have underwent the same scrutiny as the
European requirements.
The Chinese Export mark does not really exist, but it is an often used expression to cover all incorrectly marked product.
The correct CE is based on two circles that just overlap. Manufacturers that have legitimately achieved approval for their product to the appropriate European Directive/Regulation will understand how the CE mark should be applied.
Those that are just branding stuff and passing off as good product will often get the CE mark wrong, placing the "C" and the "E" too close together. As many of these inferior products come from China, this poor marking has become commonly known as the China Export mark.
