An understanding of COSHH is an essential instrument in any safety professionals toolkit. Having a basic awareness can also be valuable to other employees with health and safety responsibilities.
Some substances are easily recognised as harmful such as paint, bleach or dust. You may encounter others that may not be. Either way the substances that are hazardous to health need to be recognised and controlled.

Speaker Bio
Mark Nixon has a background in engineering and became passionate about health and safety in 1995 following several serious incidents at the large iron foundry where he completed his apprenticeship.
Having joined Arco in 1999, Mark moved to what is now Arco Professional Safety Services in 2010 and is the Senior Health and Safety Consultant where he writes and delivers UK wide training courses for some of the world’s largest companies on a large range of topics including COSHH Assessment, Human Behaviour, Root Cause Analysis and Safety Management.
Mark has gained a wealth of experience across most business sectors and, after helping an Arco team member not complete suicide in 2014, changed the course of his career and trained to be a MHFA approved Mental Health First Aid Instructor and is proud to have authored Arco’s suite of Mental Wellbeing Management courses, delivering to businesses such as AstraZeneca.
