Providing support at work for employees with alcohol & drug problems - guidance for employers
Statistics show that 70 percent of people with alcohol and drugs problems are employed.
The workplace may also contribute to a person's addiction. However research has also shown that the workplace is the ideal setting to address the issue.
Dr Claire Armstrong of Addiction NI will outline this often taboo subject giving the perspective from an alcohol and drug treatment service (30+ years experience) as well as showing ways a manager can tackle the issues and attempt to get a successful outcome for all.
Points covered will include:-
-
The Impact of alcohol & drugs in the workplace
-
Developing an alcohol & drugs policy........and implementing it
-
Support for employees with alcohol and drug problems - why not just dismiss?
-
Alcohol & drug screening - when does it have a role to play?
-
Support needs of managers having to deal with employees with addictions.
-
Other types of less common addictions in the workplace
